Ms. Sashiprava Bindhani is senior activist with immensely rich experience in the field of social development – well known for relentlessly championing Human Rights, Health and nutrition rights of women and children for well over two decades. As a leading Human Rights Defender of the State, Ms. Bindhani has fought on numerous constitutional and human rights violations in Odisha, facilitating legal interventions in different courts of Odisha. Notable among her legal interventions were the PIL writ petition in July 2011 that resulted in the Odisha Prevention of Witch Hunting Bill 2013. She has assisted the Government of Odisha through her expertise in the departments like W & CD, Home and Health to name a few. She has first-hand and in-depth understanding of the issues and challenges faced by the poor and excluded especially the tribals, Dalits, women and children. Ms. Bindhani has also held many important offices and led many civil society initiatives both at the State and National levels.
